Mixed metal jewellery

For those of us who don’t abide by jewellery fashion rules, it’s really fun to mix metal colours and wear them all at the same time.
For instance, for a while it’s been a bit of a no-no to wear gold and silver together, it’s now become all the rage to wear it all. In my mind, the way to do it is to wear many metals and make a statement of combining all the colours.
My ‘Gwlith’ (meaning dewdrop) collection is all about mixed metals in their natural state, each piece with a contrasting colour metal dewdrop design.
There is a rainbow of colours that you can wear together, and the beauty of this is they will match with the jewellery you already have. For example, wear your favourite silver ring, and your gold wedding ring with the Teulu necklace and double ring drop earrings, or a trio of stacking rings or a set of four colour stacking bangles.
The Gwlith metals are iron, gold, silver, copper, bronze and brass. Gwlith meaning dewdrop has a contrasting colour drip of silver or gold on each hoop or ring. The colours are lovely and subtle, not harsh at all, and a keen eye is needed to see the difference between the copper bronze brass and gold. The iron is a beautiful soft black, more like a graphite or maybe gunmetal. Iron is very unusual for jewellery but why not, it really does stand out from the crowd, if you want something a little bit different.
I always say it’s the love that goes into a piece of work that makes it precious not always the preciousness of the material. I prefer to treat each with the same respect and care and I love working with all metals!
Also it’s what you the wearer feels about the piece of jewellery that ultimately makes a piece precious, it’s the meaning behind the design and what it represents to you, whether it’s to celebrate an occasion, or to remember a person, a moment or a symbol of something strong.
We can’t help ourselves, I think we adore jewellery because when we feel, we feel strongly and become quite attached to the object we want to keep so close and wear every day.
